Join the Breca Buttermere event team

Being part of the Breca Buttermere Event Team is rewarding and fun. If you can commit to a full day of volunteering you will receive a t-shirt, lunch and free entry to a Breca Swimrun race the following year.

IMPORTANT - BRIEFING FOR RACE DAY VOLUNTEERS

The volunteer brief will take place at 07:00am on Saturday 29th July 2017. We will explain the race day plan, the roles, communications channels, safety procedures, and answer any questions you might have.

If you are signing up as a race day (Saturday) volunteer, it is vital that you can attend the brief on Saturday morning.   


COURSE MARKER

Date: Friday 28th July
Hours: 08:00 - 18:00

You will spend the day before the race marking the route, working in pairs. You will need suitable outdoor clothing and be confident route finding with a map and capable of hiking on trails for a few hours. You will be briefed before heading out and don’t need to attend the Saturday morning brief.


SET UP & REGISTRATION

Date: Friday 28th July
Hours: 09:00 - 19:00

You will help prepare for race day, for example setting up gazebos and flags, assembling finishers bags, preparing checkpoint equipment, preparing volunteer packed lunches. You will mainly be indoors so do not need technical outdoor clothing or skills. If you are volunteering in the evening you will help at the race registration, checking teams off on entry lists, inspecting their kit and handing out race bibs. You will be briefed on arrival and don’t need to attend the Saturday morning brief.


RACE DAY VOLUNTEER

Date: Saturday 29th July
Hours: 08:00 - 19:00

As a race day volunteer, you will be marshalling at swim transitions, checkpoints and the start & finish of the course. Working in pairs, you will be outdoors for most of the day so will need suitable clothing and be able use a map. If you have a car, please let us know. You must attend the Saturday morning brief.


hills team

Date: Saturday 29th July
Hours: 12:00 - 18:00
 

 

The Hills Team will provide support to the competitors in the high fells. Working in three to four man teams, you will be at a high altitude for the day so will need a high level of fitness, suitable clothing and be able to use a map. You must attend the Saturday morning brief


The support car will patrol the course, supporting other volunteers, collecting any teams that withdraw and transporting them to the finish area. You will be compensated for fuel. You must attend the Saturday morning brief.
